Sample of the Business Travel Requirements for an India Visa for Swiss Citizens

  1. Passport

    The applicant's actual passport. The passport must: 

    • Be valid for one year beyond entry date
    • Have at least three blank visa pages with two of the pages facing each other

  2. Proof of Residency

    Applicants who have been resident in France for 24 months or longer must supply one of following sets of documents:

    • Two utility bills (one most recent, one 24 months old) showing applicant's name residential address in France. Accepted documents are gas, electric, or landline telephone. Bank statements are not accepted.

    Or

    • Three most recent income tax papers or three most recent house tax papers

    Please note: Applicants who have been resident in France for less than 24 months, or unable to provide any of the above documentation are advised to apply for their visa in their country of origin. Applicants who are unable to return to their country of origin to submit their application, may be accepted in France at the Embassy's discretion, however processing times will be significantly longer

  3. Photograph

    You must provide a photograph. Upload your photo and we will print it to the exact specifications required for this visa. Follow https://visacentral.ch/photo-service to upload your photo.


    Alternatively, you may provide two colour, passport type photographs that meet the following strict criteria: be taken within the last three months against a white background and printed on high quality photo paper; be 5cm by 5cm in size; provide the full frontal view of your head with your face centered in the middle and displaying a neutral (non-smiling) expression. You may wear neither spectacles nor headwear except for religious purposes. Your photographs should not be affixed to your application and may not display evidence of adhesive or staples.

    and

    One digital Indian passport sized photograph. The photograph must be uploaded with the online application form during the registration process and must be identical to the other photographs provided for the application. A guideline for uploading a digital photograph can be found at http://www.indianvisaonline.gov.in/visa/ under the tab "Photo requirements"

  4. Business Introduction Letter

    You must provide an original Business Introduction Letter from the applicant's Swiss employer. Be certain your letter meets the specific requirements of the consulate by using our Digital Business Introduction Letter. Visit https://visacentral.ch/bcl-order to get started.

    Alternatively, please use the sample Business Introduction Letter provided here using the exact language and format provided in order to prevent a rejection and possible delays with your visa request.
    All Business Introduction Letters must be addressed to the Embassy or Consulate. The address of the diplomatic mission can be found here

    In addition to the language provided in the sample, your Business Cover Letter must:
    • Be on company letterhead paper with the name and address matching exactly to that which is stated on the visa form
    • Specify the exact nature of the business being conducted

     

  5. Letter of Invitation

    An original letter of invitation from the company the applicant will visit. This letter must:

    • Be written in English only
    • Be addressed to the Consular Section of the Embassy of India, 15, rue Alfred Dehodencq, 75016 Paris, France
    • Be on company letterhead paper with the name and address matching exactly to that which is stated on the visa form
    • Include the name of the applicant
    • Specify the purpose of journey
    • Specify the exact nature of the business being conducted
    • Specify the requested number of entries and the length of visa required
    • Specify the exact entry and exit dates
    • Be signed and stamped

    The dates of entry and exit specified in the letter must be identical to thos mentioned in the letter of introduction received from the applicant's employer

  6. Company Financial Statement

    A copy of the applicant's employer's balance sheet (assets, liabilities and income statement) which should consist of between 2 and 5 pages

  7. Proof of Travel Arrangements

    A copy of the flight confirmation showing onward/return travel

  8. Visa Application Form(s)

    One fully completed and signed application form. This form must:

    • Be completed online at: https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/visa/
    • Indicate "France-Paris" as the "Indian Mission"
    • Be signed in the original on the first page and at the bottom of the second page
    • Request the correct "period of visa" to be issued
    • Indicate your present occupation and specify your exact occupation in the "Designation" field in section G
    • Bear the names and surnames of the parents
    • Have no handwritten corrections/modifications
    • Bear a signature that matches the applicant's passport
    • Be submitted to the Embassy within 20 calendar days of completion

    Applicants are requested to ensure that section G is completed fully once printed, paying particular attention to "Designation" which must detail the exact occupation. Retired applicants must indicate their last occupation in field "Designation".

    • Indicate "Switzerland-Geneva" as the "Indian Mission"
    • Indicate the details of the last held passport or identity card of the applicant's previous or dual nationality, if applicable
    • Indicate the first port of entry which must match the first port of entry as shown in the proof of travel arrangements
    • Indicate under the "Previous Visit Details" the "Visa Number" and "Date of Issue" of the previous visa category, which can be obtained by contacting the Consulate of India. Applicants who have visited India before 2013 and are unable to provide this "Visa Number" must indicate "NO"

  9. Declaration Form

  10. Supplementary Form

    One fully completed and signed supplementary form

  11. VisaCentral Order Confirmation

    For orders placed on the VisaCentral website, a copy of the Online Order Confirmation which is sent to you via email, must be submitted.


    For all other orders, and where applicable, a completed VisaCentral Visa Order Form which can be found in the VisaCentral Application Pack should be submitted.


    Please note that all card payments will only be made upon completion of the visa application process. 

  12. One Year Multiple Entry Applicants

    Applicants who would like a visa valid for one year must request this on the visa application form

  13. Former Indian Nationals

    Under the Indian law, people of Indian origin, who have acquired foreign nationality, are required to surrender their Indian passport to the High Commission of India before submitting their visa applications. Once this process is complete, a Surrender Certificate will be issued. A copy of this certificate will need to be submitted with the application. In case the applicant does not have the Indian passports in their possession for any reason, they are required to furnish duly notarised affidavit in this regard. A police report is also required if the passport has been declared lost or stolen

  14. Charity and Media Professionals

    Visa approvals for applicants working in charity or media related professions will be referred to officials in India. As a result, processing time may extend for up to twelve weeks and additional consular fees may be charged.

    Media related professionals must provide an original letter stating that no media related work will be undertaken whilst in India

  15. Applicants of Sri Lankan Origin

    Applicants of Sri Lankan origin are required to fill in a supplementary form. Please contact VisaCentral to request this form

  4. Visa Application Form(s)

    • Be printed on two separate pages, forms that are copied back to back are not accepted
    • Be signed in the original on both pages in black ink only
    • Bear a signature that matches the applicant's passport
    • Be submitted to the Embassy within 45 calendar days of completion
    • Must match the number of entries selected on the VisaCentral website
    • Indicate "Switzerland-Geneva" as the "Indian Mission"
    • Indicate the details of the last held passport or identity card of the applicant's previous or dual nationality, if applicable
    • Indicate the first port of entry which must match the first port of entry as shown in the proof of travel arrangements
    • Indicate under the "Previous Visit Details" the "Visa Number" and "Date of Issue" of the previous visa category, which can be obtained by contacting the Consulate of India. Applicants who have visited India before 2013 and are unable to provide this "Visa Number" must indicate "NO"

    Applicants who acquired their nationality by naturalisation must provide the passport information of the nationality previously held. Shall the applicant not have this information on hand, a birth certificate will need to be provided.

  11. Dual Nationals

    Applicants holding a valid Pakistani passport and another valid passport must apply for their visa with their Pakistani passport.
